Hans Reiche Vol. 1, is his detailed look at the Canadian Admiral issue, extended
from the work by George Marler. This 136 page work details each issue with technical
data and research into re-entries, shades and other varieties. Published in
1965, this became the most widely referenced source for Admiral research and
still surfaces in discussions about this issue today. Now long out-of-print
and very difficult to find, this book is in great condition. For the record,
the previous owner has added pencil lines under a couple of passages of note,
but I didn't even notice them the first couple of times I scanned the book.

Harris follows a standard consistent
layout with all volumes, which is easily to follow and work with. They are all
produced in a punched, 3-ring 8.5" x 11" format, each with their own
colour-coded soft cover. There are plenty of black and white illustrations,
which are sufficient for this series. These illustrations include detailed enlargements
of individual values, booklets, varieties, and more.
Each definitive series has its own historical notes, basic values at a glance,
formats, and a simple ingenious time line that covers the particular issuance
and postal usages of each value. This is followed by an in-depth study of each
single value in a series, which includes all known printings, varieties, errors,
tags, perfins and precancels. Printings that are difficult to distinguish are
identified. Plate and blank corner blocks are also fully studied. One note of
interest, Mr. Harris does not go overboard into fluorescence, which can be quite
subjective. He basically covers the three types usually distinguishable to the
naked eye: plain, fluorescent, and hibrite.
Canada 1967-73 Definitive Issue-Better Known
as the Centennial Issue, this is the 2nd edition of one of the most detailed
works ever put together on these wonderful and varied definitives. Seven years
after the first monumental work was produced, Irwin and Freedman revised, updated
and added new information to enhance this now Out-Of-Print classic reference.
The book is divided into two basic parts; the Basic Adhesive Stamps by Keane
and Hughes, and the Supplementary Categories, including the Varieties, Booklet
Pane covers, Cello-Paq envelopes, Tagged stamps, Regular issue postal stationery
and the Special-order stationery. This catalogue has very well illustrated data
to help you unravel the mysteries of the Centennial issues. Photographs, drawings
and charts will help with the paper variations and also with the booklet vs.
sheet stamps. A very worthwhile reference item, as well a, a difficult item

The Caricatures and Landscapes Definitives of Canada:
a specialized study by David Gronbeck-Jones. This book is out of print.
Due to the fact that in some cases more than one printer was involved in this

identify. The author attempts to explain the different issues in groups, with
paper fluorescence and paper texture as two identifying fields. This is a staple

appears unused and in great shape. 1st edition
